You're welcome.

Since this is a POP account, messages downloaded with the iPhone's mail client should not disappear from the account's Inbox mailbox. Are the messages downloaded by the iPhone's mail client and then disappear from the account's Inbox mailbox, or new messages received at the incoming mail server are not downloaded by the iPhone's mail client?

Copied from your original post.

If emails disappear on your iPhone, does this mean new messages received at the incoming mail server are downloaded by the iPhone's mail client and then disappear from the account's Inbox mailbox with the iPhone's mail client within 24 hours after being downloaded by the iPhone's mail client?

If not, the messages disappear from where?

No.

Sorry, but I don't know how to ask my question any more clearer or easier to understand than I already have.

If emails disappear on your iPhone, *does this mean new messages received at the incoming mail server are downloaded by the iPhone's mail client and then disappear from the account's Inbox mailbox with the iPhone's mail client within 24 hours after being downloaded* by the iPhone's mail client?

Okay. I read it real slow and I will have to answer yes. Messages are in Outlook on my PC and in the In box on my iPhone. Within 24 hours, or less, they disappear from the iphone in box no matter what I have done on my PC. They do not go to the Trash folder.

If this is not what you are asking I'm sorry. I am rather challenged with all of this. But, I do appreciate your trying to help. I may just have to get on the phone with Apple.

Thanks

If you are accessing this account as a POP account with the iPhone's mail client, messages downloaded from the server with a POP account should not disappear from the account's Inbox mailbox unless you manually delete messages from the account's Inbox mailbox.

On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

Select this account under the Accounts section at the top.

Directly below the Account on or off selection, is POP Account Information available?

You mentioned Yahoo earlier.

When you added/created this account with the iPhone's mail client, did you select Yahoo Mail, or did you select Other at the bottom?

If you selected Yahoo Mail when creating the account, this created the account as an IMAP account with the iPhone's mail client, and you are accessing the account as a POP account with the email client used on your computer for accessing the account - with Outlook 07.

This can cause problems when accessing an account as a POP account with one email client, and as an IMAP account with another email client.

This is the name for the 2nd email account - pop.att.yahoo.com.

What is the name for the 1st email account?

Did you transfer the email account settings for your sbcglobal email account from your PC to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process? This is selected under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes. Check under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes if anything is selected under Email Accounts.

If so, did you also manually create the account on your iPhone using the Yahoo account preset? After selecting Add Account, did you select Yahoo Mail at the next screen?

If you have the same account available twice on your iPhone with the account settings for one of the accounts transferred from your computer to your iPhone via the iTunes sync process, and the other account was created manually on your iPhone using Add Account followed by selecting Yahoo Mail, this means one account is being accessed as a POP account and the other account is being accessed as an IMAP account with the iPhone's mail client, which can cause problems.

If the same email account is available twice on your iPhone, delete the account with IMAP included with the account name.

The first account is my sbcglobal.net email address.

I really can't remember how all this got set up. I believe when I bought the phone at the AT&T store the clerk selected Yahoo and entered my email address. I have never entered anything else.

In iTunes under mail I find this: pop.att.yahoo.com (POP: my email adddress)

I don't think any email account was established via an iTune sync.

I dont' see an email account on the iphone that says anything about IMAP.

Thanks for all your help.

In iTunes under mail I find this: pop.att.yahoo.com (POP: my email adddress)

Under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes below the Mail or Email section, is anything selected?

If an email account is selected under this section, this means the email account settings for the account were transferred to the iPhone's mail client via the iTunes sync process.

And if the AT&T store clerk manually created your email account on your iPhone using the Yahoo Mail account preset, this created the account as an IMAP account.

You have two email accounts available with the iPhone's mail client correct?

If so, and the first account is your sbcglobal.net email account, which is a POP account and matches the account settings with Outlook on your PC, what is the 2nd email account?

If the first account is your sbcglobal.net email address, which is a POP account and matches the account settings with Outlook on your PC, this means the 2nd email account must be the account the AT&T store clerk created on your iPhone. If so, delete the 2nd email account from the iPhone's mail client - the account the AT&T store clerk created on your iPhone. If the AT&T store clerk selected the Yahoo Mail account preset when creating the account, this created the account as an IMAP account and means the account is available twice on your iPhone - one as a POP account, and one as an IMAP account, which can cause problems. Deleting the 2nd Yahoo email account should resolve the problem.
