iPhone Software Updates folder - do I need older .ipsw files?
In my ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software folder, I have over a dozen Restore.ipsw files going back to version 1.0.1. Is there some reason that the older ones aren't deleted when the new one is added? Do I need the older ones to be there? This folder is up to 2.3Gb now, and I'd just like to toss all but the most recent one or two.
Thanks! That makes sense to me. The only reason I inquired is that it is odd that iTunes doesn't delete that for you, so it made me wonder if it was like some software application upgrades, which require you to have the earlier version on your hard drive and won't install without them.
