Recording voiceover in FCP 6.0.05

Why does my FCP system not allow me to record a voiceover anymore?

I cannot record voiceover in Final Cut Pro 6.0.5. The meter is working, but when I press the record button, I keep getting a window with this message:

"The specified capture destination file already exists."

About 3 weeks ago I recorded right into the timeline, as it's supposed to do. Now up pops the window with this cryptic message. Please help or gimme back my Avid.

go to your FCP > System Settings window ... make sure that the Video Capture checkbox has not somehow become unchecked for your selected Capture Scratch destination

if everything is already checked as it should be then temporarily select a new Capture Scratch destination +and click OK+ ... then open again the FCP > System Settings window and reselect the correct Capture Scratch destination and click OK.

now see if the VO Tool is working as it should
