Using dash character in computer name FQDN?

Hi, Can a 'dash' character be used in setting up OS X server, with no impact on DNS or OD or anything else?
Say... "My-Server.domain.com"
Are any other non letters characters allowed?
...and can/could upper case letters be used with no impact? - Lewis

The hyphen ( - ) is the only non-alphanumeric character that is allowed in a FQDN, therefore it's OK to use, however most people prefer to avoid its use, too, using another distinct name without the hyphen (e.g. myserver.domain.com).
