SMIL Support

does iphone supports SMIL, i tried playing the smil file but i got the error message "Safari: Failed to download the file". can anyone please elaborate? is it possible to play smil files on iphone?

i think quicktime supports SMIL 1.0 (or may be higher version?) , is there anyway we can make SMIL file play in I Phone, by some trick and all ?

any help appreciated.

There are no tricks to make unsupported video formats play on the iPhone.

You would have to save the file to a mac/pc and then convert it to a video format that the iPhone understands and then sync via iTunes.

Your first step would be to find a converter for your Computer and go from there.

anyone having idea when the apple is planning to support SMIL for I Phone ? most phones support SMIL, why Apple have avoided its support? is there some technical reason or just political ones?
