I was disappointed to see how limited the selection was of Mac compatible greeting card maker programs. Can anyone recommend a good one for Mac? Or will I have to boot into Windows to run one of my PC greeting card programs?
Does it have to a specific application to make greetings cards? If not, there are some greeting card templates in Pages, part of the iWork suite. You can download a trial from

I wanted something actually for my mother-in-law. She is not very computer literate and enjoyed using a couple dedicated greeting card programs on her PC. We recently got her a Mac Mini and she in upset she doesn't have her card programs. I thought, no problem, let's buy her a couple. I can't find any. There are programs where you can design and print a card more from scratch but that is not what she needs. She needs something were you have hundreds of cards in various categories and with a couple clicks you have selected and printed a card. There are so many of them for a PC. I really hate to have to put bootcamp on her Mac just for her to print greeting cards.
I tried The Print Shop 2 and believe it would be unusable for a person that is not computer savvy. The program is complicated to use and very poor for making quick greeting cards. It doesn't even come close to the PC Hallmark card program in ease of use and it only has a very small number of cards.
I ended up installing Boot Camp so she could continue to use her Hallmark greeting card program.
I may give Greeting Card Factory a try if using boot camp becomes a hassle, but it only has 3,000 cards vs 9,000 for the Hallmark Deluxe card program.

Printshop was the only program I installed on my parents' computer when I bought them one for Christmas a few years back. They were in their late 60's and it was the first computer either had used. (My father had Parkinson's and was close to being home bound, my mother has COPD and limited mobility so I thought email would be great for them.) Anyway, learning email was a snap for them - browsing the Internet took months. But both were creating cards and making posters for church in no time flat. Perhaps you give your mother too little credit.
