Can't open attachments in Safari???!!##!

Can't open attachments in Safari???!!##!

When I click on attachments in email to open them, a new window opens and it looks like the attachment is opening but then the window remains blank. The attachment doesn't appear on my desktop either as it used to. No download window opens. I am having this problem with all of my email accounts on different sites so I am assuming that the problem is with my computer. I have searched all preferences on Safari and on my OS system and can't find a problem. I'm pulling out my hair here!! Please help. Thanks. Patch

These are for web based email accounts?

Have you tried:

1) control-clicking on the link for the attachment and selecting "download linked file" from the contextual menu.

2) testing other browsers with the same sites? Internet Expolorer or Firefox?

Don't pull out that hair, sometimes it don't grow back!

Patch, update your Mac OS to Panther 10.3.9, and then Safari 1.3.1. Then see what file type the attchment is which will tell you whether or not Safari will be able to open it or if you need to use a different application.
