Attempting to copy the disk "iPod" failed. An unknown error occurred (-53)

Ok, I need some serious help. I've been looking all over the internet for weeks and havent came close to a solution. When i try to sync my 120gb video, I keep getting the response "Attempting to copy the disk "iPod" failed. An unknown error occurred (-53)." It will sync about 500 songs and then stop...I've had this ipod for 3 months today and it stopped working during the beginning of the 2nd month! I've tried the five R's, updated all my drivers, and used on a different computer....all failed.....if anybody has any info on how to fix this it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

In this case it must be the HD in your ipod having problems writing and reading data.
Damaged disk structure
These errors can also appear if the format of your computer's hard drive or your iPod disk is damaged.
To repair your computer's hard disk— Windows users, search the Help system in Windows for >chkdsk to get more information on checking and repairing the disk structure.
To repair an iPod disk—Restore the iPod or iPod shuffle using the latest version of iTunes.
Warning: Be sure to back up your data before restoring an iPod. The restore process cannot be undone. All of your songs and files will be deleted. ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1207)

So put your ipod into diskmode and check the HD or format it again, then restore to the latest software and give it another try.

I'm in roughly the equivalent boat. Everything that was on it is gone, and it randomly halts transfers. After about 6 hours I've managed to load 4 albums back on.

The pause is random, and it will give a few other random messages as well. My personal favorite was "cannot sych, source file not found". While that file was actually being played by iTunes.

This software is brilliant (even when it works the iPod doesn't actually know what letters are).
