Can't Delete a Particular Bookmark Folder

For some stupid reason- I think I was trying to bookmark a certain page of History, I made a 'History' Folder. It does not have a little folder to the left of it, it has a clock - and now all a&* history goes into it automatically, every bit of it. I can delete the history bookmarks, (more go into it as I generate history) but not the folder! What the heck did I do (I am so computer-challenged) and how do I get rid of this seemingly undeletable folder? Yikes!!!

Thanks for your kind welcome!
Well, I am an idiot - I have no idea even what command option B keys mean. I see an option button.

Can you lead me through it a little bit more? <embarrassed> Am I in a certain menu when I do this?

All I do with my computer is some photos, email and web-surf. I know what this thing is capable of, but haven't learned most of it...

I swear that is what I was doing, click the book icon, all bookmarks hidden; click it again, all bookmarks show again. My created 'History" bookmark does not have a folder icon next to it, it has a little clock thingie as if it is a bookmark that can't be deleted (like some of the others with different icons to the left of them. It highlits but I just cannot delete it.

I am so sorry, I swear I am following your instructions.

Hi,

Unless I'm missing something, you are describing the History collection that is intentionally present when looking at the Bookmarks overview page. It is supposed to be there (assuming you are seeing only the one History entry as shown here):

It seems to have saved to Bookmarks as some other kind of bookmark, not a simple folder. I don't know what else to say. There is not a folder icon to the left of it; very odd.

I see my list of 10,000 (LOL) bookmarks, plus the few that the computer 'came' with - some of which can be deleted, some cannot. This one just will not delete. I can delete any of them after highlighting them, but not this one.

By Bookmarks Manager, do you just mean the list of Bookmarks that show doen the leeft side of my screen when I open "Bookmarks"?.

**** I am taking up a lot of time here, sorry

Hi Lisa

The folder with the clock icon is automatically created by Safari. I thought you said you made a second folder. There's nothing you have to do with the first one. If you want to minimize the number of history items in that folder, either clear your History by using the Safari Reset in the Safari Menu (to the right of the Apple icon at the top left of the screen). In the reset panel, only check History, then select "reset". That zeros the history file. As you visit sites it repopulates.

To manage the History, go to the Safari Menu>Preferences option. In the General panel, there's a drop down menu for setting a specific time frame for days history is retained. Minimum is one day.

Let me know if that makes sense to you.
