Network Manager

I have to connect to WPA2 enterprise wireless routers at school. I have a preferred networks entry with all the info stored. I also have to use a VPN client in order to access the school network and internet. One day it just stopped working. I appeared to be connected, but the VPN wouldn't work. No error message or any indication that I wasn't actually connected. I had full signal strength indiction from the top bar and the network drop-down menu had my router checked. After weeks of this, I discovered that I wasn't actually connected. I had a password change, but got no feedback while connecting that my password was no longer being accepted.

That was pretty frustrating, but what is really killing me is that I have to manually change this every time I want to connect. I saw another post that recommend to someone to delete the preferred network entry, delete the keychain entry of the login, and re-create a preffered network entry. I did this and rebooted to no avail. My old password for this network is being pulled from somewhere and the network manager just won't let it go. In fact, even though I only touched specific entries for this paticular login, now my macbook will no longer connect to my router at home. So, ...

1. Please fix this behaviour in a future patch. The lack of indication that I'm not realy connected and the non-saving of the new password. I don't think I'm the only one with this problem.
2. It seems passwords are being stored in a location other than my keychain and it isn't in RAM. If this is true, what's the point of the keychain and what file to I have to edit to get rid of this old password?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

theovino,

The network key is not only stored in Your keychain but store in network preferences. You have to hit the Advanced button and remove them from the Preferred Network list. Also important to note I had problems whilst I was connected to the network, so make sure to turn off the Connection.

In my case I had to turn off Airport, Goto System Preferences -> Network -> Select Airport on the left -> Click Advanced -> Airport (Tab) -> Highlight the network -> Hit ( - ). Then turn back on the Airport and reconnect.

As far as bug reporting/feedback this is a user to user forum, Granted yah Apple runs through it ever so often, to make make sure Apple hears your request I would use the following link: http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Hope that helps,
Weston

The way you described it is how I removed the network from the list.
Thanks for the bug feedback ... just ignore that part of my post. But does anyone know if there is another config file that contains this old password other than the keychain?

More info for you ...
When I create a new preferred network entry, it recongizes the name and automatically fills in the old info when when I select the WPA enterprise from the security drop-down. After changing and saving it, I go back to look at it and the old info has overwritten my changes.
