Importing video from Sony HandyCam DCR-PC109 to MacBook Pro w/ Firewire 800

Can someone please tell me the easiest (and/or cheapest) way to transfer video from my Sony Handycam DCR-PC109 to my MacBook Pro 5.2 w/Firewire 800 using iMovie? I've had different cables recommended to me, but when I get them home, they wind up not being compatible. Is there a combination of cables/adapters which I can use? Any assistance anyone can provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.

MacBook Pro 5.2, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

MaineEvent,

From what I can tell, your camera records to MiniDV tape, and has a standard DV Firewire interface. This means you need a 4-pin to 9-pin Firewire cable to connect it to your Macbook Pro. That should be all you need.

The camera itself must be set to stream DV out through the Firewire interface. Some cameras have this set as a default, some do not. A few are auto-sensing, and will detect when you have connected it to a computer via Firewire. Check the camera's documentation.
