load FM8 as instrument

Hi,

I'm trying to load FM8 by Native Instruments as a plug-in into Garageband, so I can use the presets in FM8 as instruments in the tracks of Garageband. This must be feasible and reasonably straightforward, but I can't find the proper way.

Anyone know the answer to this one?

Thanks much.

Sou when you make a software instrument track and then under GB's Sound Generator>Audio Unit Modules pull down window you do not see FM8 as a selection?

Is there an FM8.component AU in your components file?

Got it! i went to the components and didn't see a FM8 file, so I've re-installed FM8 and now there is and now I see FM8 as an option in the Edit tab/sound generator/audio unit modules part. I can pull up FM8 by clicking on the picture next to the pull-down menu.

Great -- Not sure why this worked, maybe something to do with the fact that the installer for FM8 struggled first time as it had to download an updated version of itself first before installing, but didn;t do that the 2nd time.

Anyways, thanks for the help WarriorAnt, this solves the problem!

Hi,

FM8 successfully installed on my Mac and I bought it so I have the unrestricted version. I can use it fine stand-alone. I've not figured out yet how to access FM8 at all in/through GB. It doesn't show up in the instrument pane of a new track so I'm not sure GB is recognizing it. I used to run iDrum in GB and it was an instrument choice in the instrument pane, so I assumed FM8 would be same but alas.

I'm running GB v5.0.1. (358) and FM8 v1.0.1.002 in case that makes a difference (?).

Thanks for your thoughts on this WarriorAnt.

Sorry I replied to just your note -- So to recap, yes FM8 did install on my Mac fine and I can run it stand-alone. I'm stomped on how to pull FM8 up in GB though -- I used to pull up another app called iDrum through the instrument pane of any track, it would show up as a choice in the instrument menu, but FM8 doesn't show up the same way.

I'm running GB '09 v5.0.1 -- any ideas WarriorAnt?

Thanks much.
