Apple Mail won't forward message content

I've suddenly started having an issue with forwarding messages - sometimes.

I select a message and hit forward. I can see the forwarded message in the body of the new email. I add my comments and send. The recipient gets an email with my comments, nothing else.

I've tried this with plain old eMails, no html.

I'm stumped.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Yes, the forwarded message content is in tact. The people (that I know of) that have had issues with the messages I forward, are on the same mail server as me - the college I work for.

The only thing in common that I can think of, is I'm using Apple Mail, they're using Outlook - but none of us are on exchange.

If you open the message you sent in the Sent maibox, does it still have the content of the message you were forwarding? If so, then this is something happening after it leaves your Mac, and before it passes through all the servers, and possibly SPAM filters to the recipient.

More info, please.

I've had the same problem, though inconsistently. I do think it is related to RTF though, because when I change to plain text and forward to myself, it forwards fine when I check my outlook account on a dweebie dell. We're on an exchange server of course and I get my mail via mail.app on my mac at work but everyone else is on pcs.

The other odd thing is when I first looked at the original sent message, it was intact (looking at it on my mac). I forwarded it to myself and looked on the pc and forwarded piece was gone (text I added was fine). Then I went back to my sent folder and looked at what I sent originally, and the original text was gone there as well. So it seems like the exchange server stripped it out of my sent version as well, which seems very heavy-handed even for Microsoft.

So, my workaround is to turn off RTF -- not that hard to turn it on if I need to add some color or something but mostly text is text.

We have two macs (both iMacs) having the same issue. They've been exhibiting this problem since 10.5.7. The strange thing is it's email message specific. In other words, certain emails will not forward, but other emails from the same person will. Very strange indeed. Anyone been able to figure this out? I'm afraid we're going to start seeing it on more macs.

Thanks!

Rob
p.s. manually copying and pasting into a new message will work, strangely enough.
