When I try to send emails from my phone i get an error message that says "No password provided for SMTP:my email@smtp.comcast.net". Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter password." The password is there and I am able to receive the email just not reply! HELP!!!! This is my second iPhone (I had the white screen of death on the 1st one) and email worked fine on the 1st one!
My wife and I had the same issue with our 3Gs and I had to delete the account and re-enter it. Now working fine with no issues. Not sure what caused it though.....
I would add to the instructions in the post above:
set "Authentication" to "Password"
After following the above instructions mine still didn't work, and when I looked a bit harder i saw my SMTP Authentication was set to MD5 Challenge-Response - I changed it to "Password" by selecting it from the list, and now it finally works!
Anybody help me out here? Having the same issue, cannot send messages from my iPhone I am either getting the same message as the OP despite all the details being entered or a message telling me the details are incorrect.
