Can't send email with iPhone

When I try to send emails from my phone i get an error message that says "No password provided for SMTP:my email@smtp.comcast.net". Please go to Mail Account Settings and enter password." The password is there and I am able to receive the email just not reply! HELP!!!! This is my second iPhone (I had the white screen of death on the 1st one) and email worked fine on the 1st one!

MacBook, Mac OS X (10.5.6), iPhone 3G

Hi,

Do you only see the issue on a specific Wi-Fi network? Try testing on another network or disabling Wi-Fi.

If the issue occurs on all networks, try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743

You can also delete the account and then add it again using the instructions provided on Comcasts website: http://www.comcast.com/Customers/FAQ/FaqDetails.ashx?Id=4273

I would add to the instructions in the post above:

set "Authentication" to "Password"

After following the above instructions mine still didn't work, and when I looked a bit harder i saw my SMTP Authentication was set to MD5 Challenge-Response - I changed it to "Password" by selecting it from the list, and now it finally works!
