Sony HVR-M15U & FCP

Hi Gang, I just got a Sony HVR-M15U DVCAM vcr and I can not get it to interface with FCP for capture of video or file to tape control. I had a Sony DSR-11 DVCAM and it worked fine with FCP. Any ideas on why I cannot control the new deck. Thanks again for any input.....

Thanks Shane,
I can not control the deck for capture of video. The Sony HVR-M15U is not reconized as a VTR in the capture screen. ie Play, Reverse, Forward ect.... I tried a number of diferent settings with no luck. It seems like that the deck is not being recognized... Thanks again for the reply...

To make changes with Sony devices you must first disconnect the firewire cable.
Open the menu to Rec In / Out
Then find i-link Conv and set to ON for DV.
Reconnect the firewire open FC using an easy DV setup and capture away.

Thanks Shane and Z1 for the reply's. Bingo that did it, I did not think that the deck needed to be configured.... The old DSR-11 just plugged and play so when I got the new VTR and we pluged it in and would not work. But it is now... Thanks again to you both for your help. 😉

The M15U is an HDV deck. If you want to output DV then you need to adjust a menu option to have it output DV. Dig in the menus.

Did you look in the M15U's menus and change the output to DV like I suggested?
