Gmail Rich Text Format

Is it true that Safari will not allow Rich Text Formatting on Gmail and other web sites (email and blog)? Or is this a problem with my computer?

Could you give another specific example besides GMail? I have seen sites where you have tools for such formatting that work fine with Safari and others (like Hotmail) where the tools are only available for Windows users.

Gmail is the only one I know of. I had found an old mention of this Rich Text issue in an old thread that said hotmail and blog sites have this problem:

(I guess it's not that old)

But Gmail is the only one I've encountered this on. Firefox for Mac and PCs show the rich text options, but not my Safari.
