No Cache & Safari

I am having trouble getting Safari to not cache pages. I have inserted these 3 tags into my web pages:

<META HTTP-EQUIV="Expires" CONTENT="0"/>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="Pragma" CONTENT="no-cache"/>
<META HTTP-EQUIV="cache-control" CONTENT="no-cache"/>

but Safari still seems to cache the page regardless. Anyone know how to stop Safari from caching a page?

Hi Michel,

I'm having exactly the same problem... Anything I update on my website takes at least a day to show up in Safari. Internet Explorer shows it okay. And the PC in my house on the same network shows the new version okay, so I know it's not a caching problem with the ISP.

Even if I clear the cache it still doesn't want to know. Does anyone have any ideas?

I've had everybody's problems here. Caching when I don't want it and not caching when I do. Bah!

My present issue is that Safari refuses to cache JavaWebStart apps. I was sold on the whole technology on the basis of being able to cache an app indefinitely.
Mozilla and Firefox appear to work as desired (not downloading another copy of the app every time you start it); Safari and IE do not. They leave a mess of copies all over the desktop, each with an incremented number attached to its name. Does anyone know how to get Safari & IE to play nice?

Have you tried using Safari Enhancer. One of its options is to deactivate Safari's cache.

If it works for you, please make a donation to the developer. I find SE a very useful application.

Note too the developer's message regarding the deactivate cache feature:

"As of Enhancer 3.0, the "empty cache..." option in Safari is no longer greyed out when the cache is deactivated. I did this in order to allow people to deactivate the cache on a per-user basis (changing the menu in Safari affects the whole system). The cache is still disabled, which you can check by looking for items in the /Users/currentuser/Library/Caches/Safari/ directory. "
