I have a brand new laptop (64bit) and when I plug my ipod, it won't sync... Why is that?

Milwaukee pc, Windows XP Pro, Apple 5g 30GB Black ipod

    Hi rpm4

i think it might be because you were syncing from your old computer to your ipod and now you have a new computer you can't sync because you can't sync more than one itunes library to your ipod at a time.

does your new computer have all the music from your old computer on it?

    1. I loaded itunes on the new computer
    2. I made a restore disc via dvd of my songs
    3. I inserted the disc
    4. All songs copied...

    5. When I tried to sync it would not... I clicked something (don't ask me what)now it's working...

alex - i am having this issue with my new macbook. i copied over everything to my new laptop, per the instructions when i turned it on. now when i try to go to 'sync' in my mobileme preferences...it won't let me - nothing happens. and when i plug in my iphone, it won't allow me to sync. i get a pop-up that says 'syncing is disabled on this computer, would you like to override?'. but when i click the 'override' button, is says that 'syncing on this computer is not possible'! i've signed out of mobileme on my old computer (now the family computer) and signed in on the new computer - but again, i can not access the 'sync' preferences in mobileme. HELP!

I am also having this problem! I have downloaded new version of itunes on my "new" computer. Everything in itunes worked fine. Purchased a few songs, but they will NOT sync to my ipod. I do not get any type of error message or anything. It's frusrating! I have had this problem previously, but I dont remember what I did to make it work!

Is your computer authorized? If yes, try to deauthorize and authorize again.

Authorized and deauthorized numerous times! THis *****! Everything works perfectly fine! It let me put my purchased songs into itunes, it is recognizing when my ipod is there or not, it just won't put the new songs I bought onto it! I am so sick of apple I could scream! (Sorry I had to vent a little!)

    Hi -
Do you remember what you did to get your IPOD working? I am going to have the same issue in a few days when I get my new computer. Thanks.

i figured this one out. if you have all your music on your new computer its an easy fix. restoring your ipod to factory settings will delete all your music but then all you need to do is sync it. it will work as it reinstalls all new software to your ipod so it will work with the new computer. ( note: i do not know about mac to pc and vice versa) i changed from windows xp to vista home premium no problem. hope this is a help
