News 'ticker' in HTML snippet. SOurce of text question.

Hi there,
I know little about HTML but have adding some extra bits to my page using HTML spippets. I found some good news scrollers/faders and have put one on the site.

At the moment, the text for the news scroller is included in the html itself.

I want to look up text from a text file or somesuch stored online, to make it easier to edit and keep update.

Anyone know what I would need to do for this?

you can do that with some AJAX (javascript), this is not for the novice.

note: javascript is linked to example.

So where exactly is the javascript linked to the example? When I click on that link, all I see is the fading in and out text and then a blank page!

open my example page with safari, then open safari's activity window and you find my AJAX file:
http://test.cyclosaurus.com/extraWidgets/js_files/RSSFeed.js

and the text file:
http://test.cyclosaurus.com/extraWidgets/feeds_files/apple.xml

apple.xml is apple ticker file from apple.com and is auto-updated to my web host with *nix cron script.
