View the Camera model from photos and edit the EXIF data

Is it possible to get iPhoto to show the camera model that the picture was taken with?

I cant seem to find the info anywhere. I was told to use the Info pane bottom left corner, but that does not show it and cant seem to adjust it options anywhere.

I see the data is there from using Smart albums, but cant seem to get it displayed anywhere.
Also want to be able to edit/add to the EXIF data on some of them where no camera model is present.

Again it is something I used to be able to do in Windows with ease, but am trying to avoid doing that all the time and learn the Mac way of doing these things.

Thanks

Neil

Photos Menu -> Show Extended Photo Info.

You cannot edit the Exif with iPhoto. iPhoto is firmly aimed at the domestic point and shoot user. Have you considered using the Professional app - Aperture - at all?

I'm not sure why you keep telling us this... 😉

Thanks for the view info, that was what I was looking for.

I do have Aperture, but the metadata/Batch Change/EXIF data is greyed out.
I have downloaded Reveal, and Photoinfo tools but they do not seem to do the Camera model....or they only do one file at a time.

Keep mentioning it because it is true, have spent so much time/money on this machine do not want to give up on it, but.....just soo much stuff it cant do ...or I cant find the way to make it do it 😟

I use Aperture too, but I'm not much help on it. Post on the Aperture forum.

My workaround would be to use a keyword.

The only batch Exif editor found is free, but runs from the command line:

http://owl.phy.queensu.ca/~phil/exiftool/

Remember, if you edit the Exif on files already in iPhoto it won't see the changes.

Switching isn't easy any time, and when you do so based on an area as inherently complex as image management and editing then you're always going to have a learning curve.

Yes, I had a look at EXIF tool, and do use it on Windows using a GUI frontend, also Exifer is another good one. Shame there is no GUI for it for the Mac. I suppose I could do it all from terminal, but was hoping for GUI solution. I can do a little bit of cmd line stuff, but at first glance it all looked a tbit complex.

I put a post on the Aperture forum too, but no replies as to why the options are greyed out yet.

Thanks

Neil
