Alternative to Logitech Keyboard Drivers?

Does anyone know if there is any software that will let you use the special keys on Logitech keyboards?

The Logitech keyboard software is buggy, and because it also tries to control your mouse, it interferes with other mouse software like SteerMouse.

Does anyone know if you can find software which can map things like the Fn and special keys on a Logitech keyboard without having to use Logitech's software?

Alternately, is there any way to make LCC ignore mice, and just provide keyboard support?

Sounds about right. I've logged support calls and mails with them for years going back before 2004, and have never gotten a satisfactory response.

They seem pretty good about replacing and fixing bad hardware, but they are terrible when it comes to software.

You would think that by now someone would have managed to write a third party driver. Seems like the keymapping really should not be that hard. Of course, it would be better if they would just create keyboards that did not need drivers.

I think it would be a good seller, given how bad Logitech's drivers are.

SteerMouse is fairly popular, and I think most of that guy's customers are Logitech owners.

I gave up on the software. Logitech support promised to get back but never did.

The solution was this: buy the Logitech Illuminated Keyboard. It is a Windows-layout keyboard, but it works perfectly with the Mac without drivers.

You do not get access to all of the function key combinations, but most of them do work:

- audio volume
- eject disk
- iTunes forward, back, and pause/play

The Mac version is going back to the Apple Store.

It's OK, I love irony.
