Persistent Question Mark In Dock, How Can I Remove It?

I deleted an app ensuring that all that app's files were deleted, using EasyFind.
Where that app's icon existed in my dock, there now appears a question mark, and I cannot get rid of it. Anyone know how?

MacBook pro 17" 2.5 GHz, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

If you drag the icon to the trash, it should "poof" away.

I cannot drag it out of the dock; it won't move.

AnonyMouse,

If what Lyssa says doesn't work you can reset all of the dock by removing com.apple.dock.plist from Macintosh HD -> Users -> YOUR USER -> Library -> Preferences and then restart your computer. Please note this will reset your dock back to the first time you saw it, any changes you made since then you will have to redo.

HI,

Delete this file from your Preferences folder.

com.apple.dock.plist

/Users/YourName/Library/Preferences. Drag that file from the Preferences folder to the Trash, empty the Trash and restart your Mac. If the ? mark is still in the Dock, try dragging it off now.

I've dragged the ? off the Dock before without a glitch so hopefully trashing the plist file will do the trick.

Trashing that p.list did not return my dock to its virginal state; Most of my dock's contents remained, plus a few "extras" that I didn't want.

All you have to do is drag the icons off the Dock that you don't want. It's that simple. Just hold down the mouse on an icon and drag straight up. It will go "poof"...
