Software to create PLS or M3U format playlists?

Hi,

Is there any good software out there for the Mac that can be used to create playlists (of arbitrary file types) in PLS or M3U format?

The playlists in iTunes can only be exported as plists, and the playlist can only contain file formats that iTunes recognises.

Thanks.

I'm confused - I thought there was the option to export as XML which is a non iTunes format ? (I just tried and XML is my default format for playlists).

Switch Plus could be what you are looking for, as far as the output goes. However, the developer doesn't specify whether .XML is an accepted import format.

The ".plist" file is the preferences file. Nothing to do with playlists - it is your saved settings in iTunes. (CD import preferences, viewing preferences, etc.)

Hi,

As far as I can see, Switch Plus is a Windoze application. Are there any Mac ones? The only one I've found so far is File List 1.2, but it's very very basic on the playlist front.

Also, I don't want to import a playlist, I want to create original playlists of arbitrary file types, using a nice application. While it is possible to create PLS or M3U using nothing more than a text editor, it's not exactly an easy way to do it. A program with a drag-and-drop GUI would be cool.

Sorry, just found the Mac version (the download link just links to the .exe! You have to go to the home page).

However, I just tried it and (1) it only recognises audio files and (2) to create a playlist, it actually converts all files in your playlist to .mp3, and then creates the playlist file. Not what I want.

I just want to create a playlist file containing files of arbitrary type (audio, video or picture). I don't want to convert files or anything.
