In safari i find that much of the text font is cryptic and strange.. almost looking like scientific jargon.. this does not happen in explorer... how can this be fixed?
Look for Helvetica Fractions or Times Phonetic, via your Font Book application.
If you have either of these, that will cause problems like this.
Let us know how you're doing, OK?
I've had this a few times in a managed user environment. I don't have the fonts listed above and neither do the users who have seen this. For us it seems to only affect Google's main page. At one point I was running a Network Libary from our Xserve with a Fonts folder and the Google page would use a font from there. This Network Library has been abandonded now but the problem crops up occaisionally.
Hi Bee,
Just wanted to thank you for your post - I've been struggling with this same problem for weeks and found no answers. Deleted Times Phonetic and it is all cleared up.
Thanks again,
Susan S.
the letters seem to be loading in backwards...almost as if i need to hold up a mirror to the screen to read it. i tried looking for the two fonts mentioned above, but could not find either on my system. also, only happens in safari and not on the same webpage when i am using internet explorer.
cdlum -- backwards-like text is almost certainly Times Phonetic or a very similar font. Look for it again. Send me a screen shot if you want confirmation. Click on my name for the address.
checked all around for the Times Phonetic font again. still to no avail. BUT... i did find a font called Times Mirror. disabled the font, and problem solved!!! thanks for the advice.
