Clear Authentication Cache?

Hello,

Is it possible to clear the authentication cache in Safari? I'm debugging some realm authentication and would like to be able to cause Safari to forget my username:password.

Thanks for any tips.

Hi again suweeble,

Yes good job on spotting the differences!!
More Info please.
What os is the imac? That is the one with the issue right.

If you click > highlight > Address book application (in the imac with the missing icon) & click "show contents" does it show these items?
Info.plist
Macos
Pkginfo
Resources
Resources Disabled
Version.Plist

Can you add English, does it have the pill shaped button "Add" "Remove" in the Languages portion of "get info" page ?
I do not know why it does not have the Address book icon, but the app. icon is it possible it was placed in the dock.

Let me know,Eme 🙂

Hi Nicholas,

I could not figure out this header thing out, exactly.
I thought that authentication had to do with certificates
Safari Preferences>Autofill User Names & password Edit
pill shaped box> click that & remove desired items ?
I am pretty new user so i am not great w/ the lingo,
thought I would give it a shot.
Hope this is some what in the realm of what you ask.

If you are still having problems, with this the best
thing would be to post a new topic, hate to not see you get help.
Best regards, Eme

P.S i do not think 10.3.8 address book is too different
from what i see w/ 10.3.9 & Tiger on PB.

eme and Nick thanks for the help so far. eme I couldn't go where you directed this time. However I figured out to do what Nick said and I got to the get info with the apple + i. My list of languages is da fi French Italian ko no Spanish su zh_CN and zh_TW in that order which seems to be the opposite. Anyway there is no English listed! Rats, I though I had the fix. (for a few minutes I went to oriental characters when I uncheck zh_TW. I tried to remove that but was warned not to. So I'm back to Swedish (?)

I didn't think you'd be up so late. I shut down and went to bed.I have decided that SOMETHING is missing and I think it is part of language kits. I couldn't add anything, so I compared to my laptop again and it has much more language folders available. So now I shall be calling my 17 yr old nephew to tame the beast. I'll let you know what he does (he is so fast I can hardly follow) and if it gets fixed. Thank you for your time and trouble. I have learned so much about my computer workings from you, so all is not a waste.

I agree with Eme that there may be some languages missing from your Address Book application on the imac. There seem to be some language files that end with .lproj and .strings that may be related to the language options available in the address book application. But I'm getting outy of my depth here.

Separately, I don't know if it is relevant or not, but did you manage to drag "English" in System Preferences>International>Language to the top of the language list?

Susan, Nick
I have international on the toolbar on top right with flag, for easy access in finder, when i click, i have US English, US Extended, I wonder do you have Extended English in your list, i see 10.4.5 on PB does, US Extended is unicode were as US is roman. So perhaps it
has something to do with text encoding? Mine is set on default in safari, not sure that has anything to do w/Add.book though.

I also have the a flag icon in the toolbar which certainly provides for a shortcut to the language option in system preferences. The flag icon itself though is more relevant to the Input Menu and Keyboard Layout. Both of them are quite different matters from the language that the Address Book application opens in.

I'm thinking about what the next move is for Susan without much success at the moment.

Nick,
I was wondering if Extended English might be something she was missing
if you had it, & i did, she did not. looking for the missing link.

Would a re-install wilth Pacifist be the right move, I do not know.

This is the unfortunate problem with being tucked in some other topic,
no else has chimed in.

I think Susan should post in Mail & Address book category, so helpers there can see it, what do you think ? I can not find any thing for this problem when I search.
I will look in User tips.

I agree that Susan would be better off posting in the right forum viz mail and address book. I have already had a look at that forum where people are having similar problems and have asked similar questions, most related to French rather than Swedish seeming to override their English language option.

Susan

Make sure that you post in the forum that is related to Tiger or Panther and earlier, whichever of the two is giving you the problem.

Nick.

i know this isn't a chat forum, however, I had to leave my nephew to work on the language problem by himself. Duh. I now have some Mad Andrew music in the background. Geez.I was at PT for my broken ankle and I asked him to let me know what he did. He didn't. And now all my address book is different, except it's in English !! yippee. He imported a PDF file, and from what I can tell and I don't have da or Swedish no more Ya sure ya betcha . After I speak with him I'll let you know what he did. I gave the kid $10 to fix it, so he better have a good explanation. I also suspect that the ibook isn't going to be quite the same. Sorry I guess i should have stuck with you tromping along experts. I upgraded to 10.4.5 hoping there was a fix, but NO. I'm thinking this whole problem started with the upgrade before. Not life and death, just an annoyance that screams to be fixed. Last nights huge windstorm didn't happen only a shower of small pinecones. Susan
