Imac monitor black perimeter is magnetic.

I'm a novice mac user, about 1 yr, and just noticed, quite by accident that the perimeter of my IMac screen is magnetic. I was trying to put my earbuds away and they got close to the edge of the screen, the black band around, and they stuck to it. Got out one of my daughter's cheap bracelets and it hung on the screen. I'm from the pc world and can't find a mention of this "attribute" in the user's manual. Is this normal? Please and thank you.

It's not actually the screen itself that is magnetic. The glass covering your screen is held onto your iMac by magnets, I'm sure that was what the band and bracelets picked up. This isn't a feature it's just how the glass is held on.

On the White iMacs (the cases prior to the aluminum ones) there was a magnet on the outside edge that was use to stick your remote to, yes the remote as a small magnet in it. If you want to test put your remote up to the black edge on the front of your imac and you will feel a slight magnetic pull, not enough to hold it but you can tell it's there.

Regards,
Roger
