Monitor with wrong resolution after 10.5.7 update!!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

After just updating to 10.5.7 on my Mac Mini 2,1 (2GHz) my monitor (Belinea o.display 4_24, 24", connected via DVI) is not recognized correctly any more!

It should be running at 1920x1200 native resolution but is now stuck on a bizarre 1920x1080. Additionally, I found a new tab in my monitor prefs offering TV-Screen options like "overscan".

I tried clearing all caches and restarting the machine but nothing would work!

Please help, since I can't work at a screen with buggy resolution!

I've got an original mac with built-in graphics - so why is this happening!?!?!? This is a nightmare....

Cheers, Matt

Yep! Add me to the list!

Mac Mini 2007, 2.0Ghz + Dell 22" Monitor.

My native resolution is 1600 x 1050, which is no longer selectable...

This is ridiculous! Apple have what..like 6 products and yet they still dont bother to test all 6 of them before releasing an update!? How lazy is that!? I understand that a new model of the mini is out, but that doesn't mean you alienate your customers..

Sure its a small issue, but this just shouldn't happen for a company that sells an operating system designed for even the biggest idiots!

Go ahead and add one more! Mac Mini Core 2 Duo 1.83 GHz hooked up on a Philips LCD 32 inch screen with DVI-D - HDMI cable.

Worked perfectly on 10.5.6 then after the update the resolution list got messed up, 1360x768 just vanished and pretty much every option left either looks like crap looks like mega crap.

Hope they fix it soon. Real soon.

Same problem here on a LG L245WP 24"er on a HDMI/DVI cable. While others have reported that changing to VGA helped, frankly this is a no go on this system-I once left the HDMI DVI cable (that came with the monitor) on my parents tele and HAD to use VGA in consequence of having no other cable–and the visual quality of that connection was unbearable–bleak picture, contrast lost, no sharpness…

Whatever, the reason for this problem seems to be that the display is being recognized as a TV, the system profiler says so under 10.5.7 (and doesn't under 10.5.6) and a forth settings tab appears in the system settings that allows for overscan adjustment–well, I wish it weren't so and I beg Apple to look into this asap… I NEED a solution for this, even if this includes pressing the alt-key in combination with some recognize button in case they intentionally built this in to stop people from loosing their displays on real tvs… the DVI/HDMI connection is the only way I can get an acceptable signal to my otherwise perfect screen…

I have exactly the same problem after upgrading to 10.5.7. My monitor is LG L246WH with only VGA and HDMI inputs, connected to my Mini (Core duo 1,66, GMA950) with DVI-HDMI cable. And after upgrading my main resolution (1920x1200) is gone! I can only select 1920x1080, which looks like crap, and it doesn't even fill whole screen (there is a black space around the picture).
And I absolutely HATE using analog cable for such high-res picture. It looks bad - washed colors, not really sharp...
Please, Apple - have someone fix this (and not in 10.5.8 update, because I will kill myself before you put it out...).

Typcially use my MacBook with an 37LG5000 1080p TV via DVI-HDMI and up until installing 10.5.7 it was great. Wake up the MB with bluetooth keyboard or mouse and it would run the TV at the native resolution, not interlaced without any stupid black borders around the edge (which incidentally aren't just there to block out the screen, because putting the mouse in the bottom right corner still shows the pointer "out of" the desktop into the blackness).

Now after installing 10.5.7, I can select "1920x1080 (interlaced)" but the TV screen has black borders (again with the pokey out the edge mouse), the picture is ****** and the interlacing is annoying.

I don't really want to have to install 3rd party software to fix this, it should be supported properly by the OS, and it was until they broke it!

Is this really a bug or something by design that I don't understand, either technical or otherwise?

Ian

P.S. With 10.5.7 out, why can't I select that OS from the DDL on this page?
