software update (security update) and now my MBP 2007 stuck on grey scree

software update (security update) and now my MBP 2007 is stuck on grey screen apple logo - - its now been 15mins and still waiting?? is this normal?

No it it's not normal. Try a force shutdown and then startup again.

You might also want to run some maintenance on your Mac, things like repairing permission, running disk repair and maybe also resetting PRAM. Also downloading and running the latest Combo update is a good idea.

Just to add to what was already suggested, disconnect all peripherals from your computer prior to upgrading.
