Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR

I've noticed this option, Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR, a few times.

I have an iMac G4 w/ Bluetooth but not sure what EDR is...

What is it??

The older Bluetooth 1.0 through 1.2 versions (such as in your G4) operate no faster than 1 megabits per second (Mbps). The new 2.0 + EDR - EDR stands for “Enhanced Data Rate”—runs at 3 Mbps.

This presumes of course that your Bluetooth peripherals also support EDR. Very few if any shipping today do, though that will undoubtedly change over time. But you can use existing Bluetooth peripherals without problem; they'll just run at the lower speed.
