I just bought a brand new iPhone 3g from AT&T and after I synced it with iTunes I got the message "waiting for activation. This may take some time." It have been well over 4 hours. All of my music, contacts and apps seem to have synced over, but the time is wrong and I am getting the Waiting for activation message. I have tried resetting it and tuning it off and on. I even went as far as to take out and put back the new sim card that was provided. Is there something wrong with my phone? How can I fix it?
Also I had an iPhone 2g that I am replacing with this new iPhone, so I figured that I should have been all set up. On AT&T I picked my plan and such when I ordered this iPhone.
Simultaneously press the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple icon appears (ignore red slider) and the continue to press the home button alone until iTunes sees the phone is restore mode.
Restore as a new iPhone.
If it sill won't activate, you may have a defective phone or SIM, or AT&T dropped the ball on your account and didn't enter your new phone ID. Contact them first.
