switch display to 1920 x 1200 at 50 Hz?

hi,

use 2 displays dell 2407 wfp with native resolution 1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz on my recently bought mac pro dual quad 2,26GHz via DVI. since i am editing video footage with 1080i50, i would like to switch the displays to 50 Hz instead. monitor panel does not offer this option.

i downloaded switchresX and created a custom template. so i got a nominal resolution of 1920 x 1200 at 50 Hz. problem was that at the same time, screen display was horizontally compressed (meaning i had 2 inch/5 cm wide black areas at the left and right edges of the screen). no idea what to enter in the custom preset to get rid of these. 😟

questions:

- any idea what parameters will give a full resolution 50 Hz picture with switchresX?

- any other idea of how to get 50 Hz into my monitor panel's option list?

thank you so much!

...addition after some more tests (partly successful with simple settings on SwitchResX 1920 x 1200 50Hz):

displaying the compressed picture on the DELL display, the DELL onscreen menu states the desired resolution: it displays '1920 x 1200 @ 50 Hz'! so the display is definitely capable of this resolution! also the menu is diplayed correctly without any compression at all, only the desktop picture behind it is compressed.

seems the output of the graphic card is the problem then (NVIDIA GeForce GT 120). no idea how to put this right, found nothing on the NVIDIA site...
