Two years ago I installed an airport card into my imac. I've been using my wireless connection to internet correctly. A week ago I chanched my wifi router in order to manage a adsl2+ connection and now my imac finds a problem when I try to introduce the new wep identification -myut non-apple laptop accepts it-. When I commute between old and new router, imac works with the old -he remembers the identification- but doesn't accept the new one. Now he has lost the old one identification and doesn't work with anyone of them. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

Are you sure the new router is using WEP and not the newer WPA protocol? If it's using WPA, your iMac model (if it's a 1.25 MHz model running Mac OS X) should be able to handle WPA.

Yes, is using wep. Even the old router is not working: I introduce the wep password that airport asks for when I try to use the connection, and then answers that an erros has produced.

Are you using Tiger or Leopard (or Panther)?

In System Preferences Network pane, did you try creating a new Location and setting up that location to connect to your new router?

ok i had the same problem...

there is a hex code and a ASCII code
the ascii code is the word one such as "Admin"
the hex code is a numerical code such as "61646D696E"
that is the admin code in both ascii and hex.

Thanks Kenichi and Lasseigne. I was introducing the code in wep password. Now introducion it in wep 40/128 bits ASCII it works.
