PSU pinout for 20'' iMac G5 (iSight) 2005

Hello everyone,

I have been looking all over the web for a pinout of the 2005 20'' iMac G5 (iSight)'s power supply unit (PSU).
It uses a 2 x 7 pin connector with following pins:

Group 1:
INV CPUHI
SYS POWERUP_LBUF
PP12V_ALL
PP12V_ALL
PP5V_ALL
PS_GND
PP3V3_ALL

Group2:
LCD_PWM
POWER_GOOD
PS_GND
PP12V_RUN
PS_GND
PP5V_RUN
PP3V3_RUN

I'm trying to wire a PowerMac's PSU to the iMac, since the iMac's is no longer working. Now I have no clue about the INV CPUHI ,SYS POWERUP_LBUF and LCD_PWM pins' specifications. If anybody could help me on this I'd deeply grateful.

By the way, I'll also have to figure out a way to get power to the Philips LM201W01 display's blacklights. But luckily I found a specification on that.

Mac, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

Hi, I do not have a direct answer to your question, and a pinout analysis will take me too long to measure. But researching on a dead iMac G5 17" iSight (=2nd gen) this week myself, I may have stumbled on something even better for you and all the unfortunate users of the "bad capacitor iMac series" which has only been very partially granted extended warranty by Apple itself (with all due consideration for Apple & extremely justifiable dissapointment to the duped end users): http://jimwarholic.com/2008/07/how-to-repair-apple-imac-g5.php.
This link contains a real treasure of information and other relevant links. I hope this way you will be able to repair your defective PSU yourself!
Happy DIY and let us know if you succeed!!

Well thank you, hexidy. My iMac's PSU has perfectly working caps. Its malfunction is kind of my own fault since I short-circuited the thing by accidently leaving a screw in the case after exchanging the hard drive. So I think I'll have to replace more than just the caps. I don't even know yet whether I killed the mainboard too or not. I guess I'll just have to figure out the pinout by myself. Maybe it's best I'll look for a used iMac G5 to get some spare parts. Still, thank you for your help.

Sorry to hear about the accident, Ernie. You may have damaged your motherboard, in fact, it's probable.
However, there is a main fuse in the PSU, I believe 4A, which looks like a small black cilinder with specs printed on top, on the primary section close to the AC inlet cables. Can do no harm to check this first; if you are very lucky only this may have blown! Also, ther must be a few SMD fuses on the main board: small black rectangles, probably next to them you will find F### in white print on the circuit board.
Getting a defective 2nd hand sibling for spare parts would be just my idea. And judging from Jims website, there must be quite a few around!
Good luck!
