Sidebar - force refresh?

i have a question that was unanswered before. Is there a way to force a refresh on the Shared section of the sidebar in the Finder? In the image below, I've circled the area I mean.

one of those boxes has been turned off for almost an hour and its still in the list. i'd like to know if there is a way to make OSX refresh it manually, or at least more often. Thanks

Click the triangle to the left of Shared which will shrink the section. Then click again to expand it. That should refresh it. If not then just press COMMAND-OPTION-ESC to open that Task Manager window. Select the Finder and click on the Relaunch button.

I've had this problem for a long time, apparently so have many others. Relauching the Finder seems to work, but I still don't think it was intended to work this way. Hey Apple, could we fix this please?
