Humax PVR

Hi –

Long shot but has anyone got a Humax PVR? I have one but would like to know if I can transfer my recordings from it to my iMac. There never used to be any support for Macs with Humax but I believe someone has written a piece of software which would let me do this, does anyone know if it's been successful?

I don't own one of these, but have been researching it as a possible purchase.

I believe that you can copy the files off of the Humax (Foxsat HDR?) onto a memory stick in VIDEO_TS format.
You'd then need to convert this via an Application like Handbrake. I don't have any more specific information other than to say that you could have a dig around in both of this forums:

Obviously it goes without saying that you will only be reproducing material that isn't copy-protected and / or under copyright restrictions. Discussing circumvention of copy-protection is prohibited on these forums, so I can not offer further information lest it be used to wilfully copy your own DVDs.

I understand about copyright, I was really intrigued to find out whether it was actually possible or not I suppose. I actually have just the Freeview PVR recorder, not a Foxsat. How do you think you'd be able to just plug a memory stick in and copy files off? Surely you'd need to plug it into a computer first so the PVR acts as an external HD then access it with a piece of software?

I believe that you can manage your recordings on the PVR in such a way that will allow you to copy them onto a stick. But for the specifics of how to do it you may better better off asking a question on AVforums.com as there'll most likely be an 'Owner's Thread' related to your specific model.
