Itunes Won't Burn Audio CD - Slow!

I have no idea why iTunes is behaving like this. Howver you could convert the files to another format such as MP3 with iTunes, transfer them to WMP and then burn them with it.

These forums are monitored by Apple so the issue should be addressed in a later version of iTunes. You could report the bug to Apple as well using the contact information on the Apple site, also you could report it using telephone support in your local country.

There is another posting in this discussion board titled something like Itunes won't burn CD's. It has a pretty good answer. I am having the same problem!!!

I think they say to do a slower burning speed or something.

I can also not burn to CD .. In my case, itunes will only burn a few tracks then stop and lock's up the cd drive .. cant even remove the CD without a full reboot of the machine. This used to work in older versions of itunes on same hardware. Has anyone found a solution, or escallated with Apple?

Oh! My computer does that too! I didn't realize it was possiblyy connected to burning CD's with Itunes.

I got it to work by lowering the Preferred Speed to 4x and unchecking the Include CD Text field. Took me four hours to get this figured out.

I am having the exact same problem...burned cd's last week no problem. Then, downloaded iTunes 8.2.1.6 and now can't burn any!!! It says writing forever...goes through each song, then says it's burning them. After waiting forever again, it doesn't do anything, and I can't even get the cd compartment open without rebooting.. I am very frustrated as I use iTunes for my Jazzercise business, and I need to burn new cd's for it all of the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I pay way too much for this!

It seems anyone who has Windows Vista + iTunes 8.2.1.6 / will face this problem, as i've looked up & foundout this error does not occur with Mac or Windows XP users, Apple yet has to fix this horrific bug which may leave millions of iTunes (Vista) users unable to burn CDs.

The actual bug started affecting many since v8.1, than kept continuing until 8.1.1 (with a temporary solution for vista users- to change burning speed to 16x/uncheck CD text) but the latest version does not seem to have any solutions yet.

Having the same problem and tried all the above with no luck. Never had burn problems before getting Vista. I-tunes needs a new update to remedy this. This problem is keeping me from backing up purchased songs on CDs.Help!

You used to be able to fix burn issues by making changes in the registry, but now it creates another problem. Even downloading the newest drivers from gearsoftware won't help WTH.

Please don't make any changes in the registry, it's vital to your PC's daily operations, editing it would just mess up things.

This CD burning problem is universal for iTunes Vista users, not just you. Let the Apple techies work this out for the next update, hopefully they will fix it.

Actually, I have Windows XP Home Edition and I am also having this problem. I can't burn CDs on iTunes but can burn them on WMP. Hope Apple fixes this problem soon. My problem also started with the 8.1 update and the 8.2 didn't change anything.

I just wanted to join the discussion and say that my Vista system burned CDs just fine until the previous update prior to the latest update. No issues whatsoever.

I did wonder if the latest update fixed this issue but haven't actually tried burning one. Intersting side note is that I was able to burn a CD with Windows Media Player UNTIL last time I tried and that failed, also. Had to go to "ancient" Windows XP desktop to burn using iTunes.

I will try the slower speed suggestion. I don't use the CD text option. I did read some comments about the quality of the CD being used but, again, no problems here with any CD until recent updates.
