Rechargeable batteries for wireless keyboard and mouse

Apple recommends alkaline batteries for wireless keyboard and mouse. I use rechargable Energizer Nickel-Metal-Hydrite...2500 mA...the recharageable batteries with the most longevity.

Nevertheless...when fully charged...the battery level in keyboard/mouse preferences is only at 80%.

Why? What is your experience with rechargeable batteries for keyboard and mouse?

I use the same Energiser 2500 mAh NiMH batteries, Jurgen. I find them fine for both the mouse and keyboard. As Bob says, even when fully charged they sit at a lower voltage than alkaline batteries, or the Energiser Lithiums that originally come with the bluetooth keyboard and mouse for that matter.

The NiMH's seem able to maintain a sustained load well though. With the lithiums, for example, I find that even when they still read 1.5V they are unable to keep the mouse running smoothly.

For me, I seem to have to recharge the mouse batteries every couple of weeks. The keyboard ones last much longer.

You'll find another thread on this at mrkbghm, "Bluetooth Tale of Woe and Redemption", 01:21pm Aug 20, 2005 CDT where I posted a couple of thoughts earlier today.

Cheers
