Quicktime for 64-bit Windows

Does anybody know if there is a version of quicktime that works with 64-bit OS (as add-on) so far up to version 7.6 when I get an embedded mp3 file, I get no controls for it, all I see is a black strip, then I noticed that quicktime has the *32 next to it and found out that most media players that are 32-bit will not run properly on browsers when the system is 64-bit

Windows Vista, I'm a PC and I would like to run MAC OSX on a PC

Hi,
I'm also on x64. I have 2 systems, one on XP x64 and one on Windows 7 RC1 x64.
I've had the black bar problem ever since I installed my first x64 system in 2006. I can't believe that after 3+ years it's still there. And it's not only me, everybody I know on x64 (be it XP, Vista or 7) has the same problem.

Note that I don't use a x64 browser, I use x86 Firefox, so the plugin doesn't need to be x64. The movies play fine, but there's this ugly glitch with the UI. I'm a bit of a techie guy myself, and this isn't (or more importantly, shouldn't be) something that's that hard to fix.

x64 users need some attention, that's all. I write here because 3 years of patience have gone nowhere..

I have the same problem with quicktime with the black bars and not being able to see the controls. It happens in all my browsers (Firefox, IE, Chrome and even Safari which I thought was funny because seeing that Safari is Apple's own thing, I would have thought there wouldn't be an issue with it, but there is). I hope this issue gets fixed soon, because its getting really annoying to blindly click where I think things should be.

I'd also like to chime in. I'm running 64 bit Windows Vista and have the exact same issue.

This is a 'known issue' which is really ridiculous for them to still have at this point. I can't listen to mp3 links in Firefox, because Quicktime shows up with a black bar as well as eats my mouse pointer if I try to click on roughly where the play button should be.

I've paid for QT7 Pro and am peeved that they've let a bug like this go on this long.

The only fix I have found is to run the 32 bit browser, or if you have Firefox/the 32 bit still doesn't work you have to set your browser to run in Windows XP SP2 compatibility mode. If you are running Vista x64 and do this, when you watch a video the track bar will finally work, but your computer will change the visual theme to Vista Basic. Aero mode will re-activate once you close the window with the Quicktime video... just a work around, but at least you can use QT at that point :-S

Hi!
I am going to a online school called animation mentor, where we use quicktime video a lot!
I really think this should be solved soon and I know about the workaround.
Thing is that is only works for firefox, the issue here is that it complicates a lot of things; video doesn't have consistent playback, etc.
Now, this issue as probably been around for as long as a 64 bit version of Windows has existed and I really think it is about time Apple made a fix for this. Kind of feels like Windows users are ignored and if that is the case I think it is pretty childish.
Apple should also inform users that this issue is going to appear for x64 users, but they don't. And for all the customers that buy Quicktime Pro this probably would be really disappointing.
If this fix doesn't show up before Quicktime 8 the 64 bit users that buy Pro are kind of cheated from the software they really wanted.
The compatibility mode workaround works for firefox some what. All the other browsers I have been using form Chrome to IE does not support compatibility mode and that means that it really isn't a solution, rather a disadvantage.

Now the problem is that when using any browser in x64 and load the quicktime player don't load it in 32 bit even though the browser is, i guess. this results in the user interface in the quicktime plugin won't render. and without a user interface you don't really know what you are doing.
I have actually gotten it to work in chrome, by enabling compatibility mode once i have a instance of Chrome running. But if I should close chrome completely and reopen it i don't get to load the browser before removing the compatibility mode once more.

APPLE, Why oh why won't you fix this? I see posts in this site addressing the issue dated back in 2007!
