MPEG Streamclip - out of sync

First, click Fix Now to fix time-code breaks. Exactly how are you exporting, and what sound options are you using in that export?

In Streamclip, click Command-I to get the info on the video/audio. What does it say?

I'm having a problem similar to this, but I do it all the time this is the only time i've gotten this error, i use mpeg stream clip. I have a dvd I got from a DVR recorder, I open the dvd which shows 2 VOB files in the TS folder. the MENU gives "Warning: the stream may have timecode breaks." I "Fix Now" and it works fine. But i dont want the menu. the other VOB file in the TS folder, which should be the "movie I want" gives this error when opened,
"File open error: unsupported file type"
when I open anyway, I get an audio bar which has no sound, and no video.
ANY IDEAS? I've been on this for hours PLEASE

Command-I is a keyboard shortcut to show info on your clips. In Streamclip, the equivalent menu action is *File > Show Stream Info.* What does it say when you do this?

What settings do you use when exporting from Streamclip in Export to Quicktime? Frame-size, frame-rate, compression, and sound settings will be helpful. It shows all of these in the Export to Quicktime window.

1. Click Fix Now for the timecode breaks
2. Export your file using Export to Quicktime (Command-E)
3. Use these settings in the Export to Quicktime Window:

*Compression: Apple DV-PAL*
*Quality: 100%*
*Sound: Uncompressed Stereo 48kHz*
*Frame-Size: 720x576*
*Frame Rate: 25*

See if that makes a difference.

To make sure, do you have the [MPEG-2 component|http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2> from Apple? If not you're going to have to get that to properly convert MPEG-2 files.

Also, when you open the file in QT Player, does the audio play back in sync? What about if you try simply playing it in Streamclip?

If you can watch the file, you have the mpeg-2 component. If it plays with the audio out of sync in Streamclip and in Quicktime before you convert it, then I'd say it is a problem with the file. If it isn't in sync before you do anything to it in Streamclip, it isn't going to be in sync after the conversion.
