Not Recording USB Pedal Data

I got one of those new Eowave USB pedals and I'm trying to use it to record volume changes in Garageband.

When I plug in the pedal (using Eowaves editor opened with MaxMSP5 software from Cycling74) and set this editor to control value #7 for volume, the pedal controls the volume of software instruments very nicely. I can clearly see the volume control moving from left to right in the instrument header.

However, when I hit record, Garageband does not record these volume changes.
It still controls the volume of the selected instrument as it always did, it's just that there is no data recorded in the Garageband editor Expression Pedal track. What's frustrating is that Garageband seemed to automatically record these volume changes when I first got the pedal, and now for some mysterious reason, it stopped.

What are the exact steps I must take to be able to record volume changes from this USB Pedal in Garageband? Is there any procedure or setting in Garageband that I'm missing? As I said before, the pedal's editor is set Midi Control value #7 and working when I simply play it.

This is a simple device, so there must be a simple answer to this question. To keep things simple, let's say I'm just trying to record using Musical Typing.
Thanks for your help with this.
