iPhone settings for AKO (.mil) email address

Does anyone know what the correct settings are in order to use my iPhone for my Army Knowledge Online (AKO, it's a .mil account). I can currently receive email via this account but cannot send from my iPhone.

AKO settings should mirror what you use for an Outlook setup. The Outlook settings can be found when you login to AKO, or do a quick google search regarding "AKO through Outlook." The settings below should get your iphone working with AKO.

IMAP account info
Name: your name
Address should be your full AKO email
Description: same

Incoming Mail Server
Host name: imap.us.army.mil
user name: full email
Password: AKO password

Outgoing Mail Server
mailrouter.us.army.mil
(then click on the server name, it needs other settings)
Host Name: mailrouter.us.army.mil
User Name: full name in AKO email address
Password: AKO password
Use SSL: YES
Authentication: Password
Server Port: 465

Advanced:
(Go to the bottom of the settings)
Use SSL: YES
Authentication: Password
IMAP Path Prefix/ None
Server Port: 993

That should get you working.

These settings are exactly correct and also available from the AKO Webmail login page. But I did notice, when on WiFi at home on my Linksys Router, mail won't send, but once I turned of WiFi, that message that was sitting in my outbox went straight through on 3G. Not really worth poking around on the WiFi settings to get this to work since 3G works fine, but for anyone who tries these settings and still has messages sitting in their outbox, try getting off WiFi and onto 3G. iPod touch owners, I recommend logging into your router and start looking at what ports are blocked I guess.

Hopefully someone can help me here. Mr. Shelby's instructions do not seem to apply to my 3G iPhone. The information required to setup an outlook account on my 3G follows:

- Email: (I assume this to be the full AKO email address)
- Server: (The phone does not distinguish whether this is for incoming or outgoing so what do I put here?)
- Domain: (I have no idea what to put here???)
- Username: (full AKO email address)
- Password: (AKO password)
- Description: (full AKO email)

If someone can help me fill in the blanks with this I'll be forever gratefull!

I have AKO coming to my iphone and "Mail" on my Mac. I am able to send emails from both also. Hopefully I can help. I don't remember exactly how I set it up but looking at my iphone settings now, the incoming server is imap.us.army.mil. The outgoing SMTP mail server is mailrouter.us.army.mil. The SSL is set to on and the server port is 993. Over the past couple of days I had some problems after AKO sent out a mass email saying the all AKO users had to agree to some new rule. I had been able to send emails from my iphone prior to that but after they sent the email I had problems sending emails from the iphone and from Mail. So what I did was sign on to AKO, agree to whatever it was that AKO wanted us to agree to (pop up box pops up as soon as you sign on to AKO so you have no choice but to agree to it), then went back to my iPhone and Mail and deleted the AKO email from both. I then reinstalled on both and they work fine. I have sent test emails from both the computer and from the iPhone and everything worked fine. If this doesn't work, reply to the blog with specific questions and we'll try to fix together.

Once there all it asks is:
Emai;
Domain;
Username;

Description;

Thats it, thats all there it is to it, no advance settings or nothing like that for me to input the settings you guys are describing here... Please can someone shed some light on how to configure AKO Webmail on my Iphone, Please!!!!!!!!
