Is there a way to lock minimized windows?

Or just to prevent a minimized window to open up by itself.

For example, you are using Safari and you minimized a webpage with streaming music.
You are then doing somthing else, on anothe rappplication and you don't want this window to be "unminimized" when you go back to Safari (if no window is open, the last minimized window opens up automatically).

I would like to lock this window and open it only when I click it in the dock, for example.

Any way to do that?
Thanks.

Have you considered using spaces?

Its not the solution you are looking for, but you can just put the windows you don't want to see on another desktop. That way you don't even have to minimize them.

Enable spaces in system prefs> Expose & Spaces > spaces Tab.

You may want to experiment with key combos for switching between spaces, and you may want to try unchecking "When switching to an application, switch to a space with open windos for the application"

I would like to have the possibility to have no window open (of course with an opened window/tab the problem isn't there).

You now, closing all the active windows, having an audio stream in a locked minimized window, and like this, when I come back to safari, the minimized window doesn't open up by itself.
I looked for some sharewares but I didn't found anything.

you know what, now that I think about it, there is actually a simple solution.

just install firefox (or opera or some other browser). use it for your streaming, and safari for everything else. you can leave firefox minimized, or even right click the icon in the dock and "hide" it.

when you switch back to safari from whatever your doing, firefox will continue to do its thing uninterrupted. and this would work with as many windows/tabs of firefox as you want to keep running in "locked" mode.

if you browse to a page in safari that you want to "lock away" just copy the url into a new firefox window/tab and minimize(or hide) again.

As you may have guessed or gotten from the other posts here, is that you can not Lock a minimized window to the Dock. However as others have tried, you can always try a work around. Which leads me to mine.

You can always clip the Internet media player into Dashboard. Easy Way to do so is select File -> Open in Dashboard -> And then select the Frame around your media player -> and click Add. It will open up in Dashboard, However your not done yet, there will be a little ( i ) in the bottom corner of this web clip widget, click it and there you will see options for themes but more importantly an option to play audio in dashboard only. Please make sure that is unchecked. And there you go, a way to have your page loaded, and out of sight and mind.

Hope that helps,
Weston
