JVC .MOD files to iMovie

Changing from PC to Mac. My JVC camcorder saves video in the .mod format. For each of those, it also creates a 32KB .MOI file. iMovie imports the video from the camera without any problem. Video I had already moved to my PC are also no problem if I move both fMOI and MOD file back to the camera and import it that way.

My problem is the ones where I had erased the MOI file on the PC. These videos still ran under WIndows Media Player, but I can't get them to import into the Mac.

Tried one program, but it kept locking up (thought I was back on the pc), and after their customer support got finished, it would only import 5 seconds of video.

ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated.

I was having plenty of trouble converting movies into iMovie readable formats as well, and I think I ended up downloading Handbrake (free) but it had lots of quality loss issues (be sure to read the 'about this program' stuff if you download it) I also downloaded streamclip and the extra piece here was to buy a Quicktime attachment for $20 to $30 (I paid $34 CAN) from the apple website. Can you say over-a-barrel? Anyway - after lots of wandering around the computer I got the video files converted. I cannot tell you exactly how that happened, but these programs were the start to getting it done. After that I just pointed, clicked, and swore a lot. Best of luck.
