Onkyo UP-A1 iPhone/iPod dock

I recently purchased the Onkyo UP-A1 dock which is advertised as compatible with the iPhone. I hooked it up to my Onkyo TX-SR 607 AV receiver. I can play music via iPod, but cannot view any photos or video. According to Onkyo this dock should allow you to view content on your TV.

I too recently bought this iPod dock for my TX-SR607. As far as I know, the UP-A1 is only capable of connecting to the TX-SR607, TX-SR507 and TX-SR307. Onkyo advertises the following...

"The UP-A1 also offers handy features found on previous Onkyo docks: recharging capability; onscreen display for content navigation and selection;"

After ordering this dock and trying it out, I discovered I could not get the on screen navigation to work. After contacting Onkyo's support, this was there reply...

"Thank You for contacting Onkyo USA Product Support.

Unfortunately with the TXSR 607, 507, and the 307 are unable to show the OSD for the UPA1 dockstation. Thank you, Jen"

Please tell me how you can advertise something that does not even function for the only models it can connect to? Total bs.

Unfortunately buddy you misread the text from the Onkyo website. See below
"Track Lists and Song Information Displayed via Compatible A/V Receiver’s Onscreen Display (via Extended Mode)*2

*2 Note: Extended Mode is available only on compatible A/V receivers. TX-SR607 and lower models feature only Standard Mode (no OSD possible)."

In other words, the on screen display works for only select high end models (Higher than the SR607).

I just purchased the Integra DTR8.9, Anyone know if the UP-A1 docking station works with the Integra DTR8.9?

Sorry, but I did not misread anything.

When I bought the unit 6 weeks ago, their website did not make such a statement. It must be new because of my inquiry to Onkyo support as to the functionality with the 607 model. Maybe they planned on full osd control with upcoming models but it should have been stated when released, not after I complained to support.

Please identify for me another Onkyo model that the UP-A1 dock can hook up to besides the 607, 507 and 307. I checked all the higher models... the TX-NR906, TX-SR876, TX-SR806, TX-SR706 all are not capable of using the new dock. Hence why Onkyo's initial advertising of the UP-A1 was misleading. Only recently was the new corrected information added.

And after re-reading the information for the UP-A1, they never called it standard mode or extended mode last week. All that information is brand new. I'm glad to see it corrected.

It wasn't a big deal. I tried it. It didn't work as originally advertised. I called support thinking I did something wrong. I stood corrected so I sent the unit back. Onkyo corrected their website to indicate the proper info.
