Mail: Destination mailbox (null) does not allow messages to be moved to it

Mail: I click to delete an email and get the message:
Destination mailbox (null) does not allow messages to be moved to it.
However if I select message - move to trash - on my mac (the only option available) it works.
What can I do to resolve this?

PowerPC G5, Mac OS X (10.5.2), memory 1GB

Hi JavaP

Assuming you're using IMAP:
Go to Mail.app > Preferences > Accounts.
Choose the mail account having problems.
Switch to the tab mailbox behaviour.
Disable the checkbox "Store deleted messages on the server".

If that doesn't help, revert these steps.
Choose your Trash mailbox.
In the Mail.app menu > Mailbox > Use this mailbox for > Trash

If that didn't help either, please provide some info on the account in question.
