Question

Can not mount DMG File for Skype

Hi, I am suing Mac Leopard 10.5.6..I download skype from its official website, and I can't mount the DMG file. I tried download it again and restart the computer but it doesn't work. It gave a reason: "Not recognized" for Image "skype 2.7.0.330.dmg"

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

The First Skype download won't work. You need the 2nd download which will have the word "full" in it.

Or try downloading the 2.8 beta.

I tried Beta version. It doesn;t work...

What do u mean download the second time with "Full"?

Apple doesn't write Skype software.

Try repairing disk permissions. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select FirstAid, then click: Repair Disk Permissions. Quit DU when it's finished and reboot.

When the disk image is not downloaded properly or just partially it will not mount correctly. I would advise you to chech the md5 number of the disk image to make sure it is downloaded properly.

The terminal command is md5 filename

MD5 (Skype 2.8.0.438BETA.dmg) = fdd975c7877054465debe138727a19a7
