    That camera shoots AVCHD format.

You need an Intel Mac with an up to date copy of Final Cut Pro 6.
Import the footage via the Log & Transfer command and transcode to ProRes.

Actually you just need the right h/w s/w combination.

Just open imovie'08 or higher version when camera is connected. Goto File tab and select import (or press apple and I together). Follow the instructions. You can import any format from any HD video camera and play it.

I feel your frustration. New Panasonic TM-350 video camera, Intel MacBook running 10.5.8 with iMovie 08'.. Nothing. Can't import. Can't drag/drop.. iMovie sees nothing, imports nothing.

Dragged folder with video files to Desktop; iMovie sees nothing. Any ideas?

just bought Sony HDR XR200V wouldn't import w/i movie 6 but did automatically import w/ I movie 08 no problem. you must be using an intell based mac to import the ACHD files

    Hi there,

I have the same exact camera Sony HDR XR200V. Imovie 08 recognizes the import but when I go to import an individual clip or clips, the Imovie pop up says that there is something wrong with the clips and that I should review the clips carefully. I have checked the clips and everything seems fine to me. My Mac is Intel based, and I am running on Mac OS X snow leapord. What am I doing wrong?

    Please HELP!
