Does anyone have AutoCad 2004 on a Macintosh? It looks like I need to buy some software for my iMac G5, AutoCad 2004, Windows XP and Virtual PC 7. That's allot of money to see if AutoCad will run on my Mac.

Sorry to tell you this but I believe AutoCAD doesn't come in a mac version. Check out AutoDesk's site. We run AutoCAD 2006 at work, and I'm getting a 20" g5 2ghz iMac in november. Wish it was made for the mac! That would be great, but I can live without it on a Mac. Cya,
A program with the overhead of AutoCad may bog down under VPC.
If you are at all proficient in it, the waiting may drive you crazy. I would wait for a few more responses or check other sites before laying out that kind of money.
I'm pretty sure Autocad is one of those programs that simply can't be used under Virtual PC, Mac Ray [edit- it seems some people have had success with it in more recent times]. The best place for advice about CAD on the mac, though is Architosh -

Do you specifically need AutoCAD or could you use one of the Mac compatible CAD programs that will run "native"?
Thanks Rod, I guess I could use a compatible AutoCad mac program but I have no idea how clean the files are when I bring them back into AutoCad. In otherwords I would like to have all the layers transfer over and any other properties in the file.
