Drugstore with Kodak print machines prints thumbnails

Let met throw this question out, maybe somebody has heard of this situation:
My friend with an iMac and iPhoto has brought CDs with his photo files to the CVS Pharmacy for printing. Twice he got back print sets made from the thumbnails instead of the regular jpg files.
The store refused to refund any money or do them over, instead claiming that "this is how the Kodak printing machine works". In other words they have no control whatsoever over the process.
How does one avoid this situation (other than going somewhere else)?
When I use my USB stick to copy pictures to a PC I always see another set of hidden files. Could it be that this is what the printing machine uses?

Thanks,
W.

Do not use the "share menu ==> burn" command or the burn icon in the tool tray - select the photos and go to the file menu ==> export and export best quality full sized photos to a desktop folder and then burn that folder to a CD

The share command makes a Mini iPhoto library that includes originals, modifieds and thumbnails and is not appropriate for any use except loading into iPhoto

And consider ordering from Apple using iPhoto - they understand how to do the proper prints - and they guarantee their work (the drugstore should give a refund IMHO)

I work in a photolab, and have this trouble all the time. I can't give you the specifics of what happens when you create a disc of photos on a mac, but I can tell you that you end up with, I think, three versions of the image in different resolutions.
When you go to the Kodak print machine, the kiosk opens everything. You will notice that the photos will have little yellow triangles with exclamation marks in them. That means that the resolution in the photo is low. When you press place order on the kiosk, it will come up with a warning message saying that the photos selected are of low resolution, do you want to include them.
The other thing you will notice is that if you scroll through the photos, they will eventually repeat as they are in three different folders on the disc. You just need to scroll through till you get to the photos without the resolution warning.
I frequently explain this to customers and no one believes me, even though I have seen it so many times and have experienced this myself with photos I have burned onto disc with my mac.
What happens with the USB stick is different. When you delete a file from a memory card or USB stick, it is still there until another file comes along and is written over it or you format the card or USB. I frequently find on photo kiosks, older photos that I have deleted appear along with photos I have just taken.

Exporting gives you only the selected photos and is the only way to prepare photos for photos processors or machines that do not have iPhoto
