Apogee Duet clicking, skipping all of a sudden

Was using it fine and then now it is clicking and skipping and ruining the tracks I am recording vocally. What is the value of this $495 equipment anyway? I think my vocals sound better just through the mic in of my MacBook Pro and my keys can come in through my $40 m-audio midi interface.......

Did I damage the interface possibly when I mistakenly set the audio input to built-in mic and the feedback screeching was horrible (never would happen in Garage Band of course.....)????

If you still have guarantee, turn it back to the dealer. Cross check with another interface if it really is the apogee problem. We've heard of broken Duets here before. If it works, the quality is superior and worth every dollar.

I don't believe that an audio feedback could have damaged it. If you plugged the duet into your 100W-Guitar-Amp's outputs, well, probably then it will have crossed jordan. But however: turn it back to your dealer to have it replaced.

Thanks for your reply -- can you tell me the basics of what it is supposed to provide that the audio input doesn't provide?

Also, now the computer won't register my USB midi audio interface from my keyboard even though I have unplugged the Apogee stuff and tried to set up the M-Audio Pro via Preferences > Sound -- the computer no longer recognizes it......

The value of Apogee Duet is in its professional AD/DA converters, which allow higher quality recording than using MBP's audio-in socket.

In case of your USB audio interface, try reinstalling the driver.

I'm pretty sure there's no need to panic & return this interface. I seriously doubt there's anything physically wrong with it. Almost certainly the problem is with the driver. There are loads of people with exactly the same problem all over the Forums… it happens when you upgrade something, because the driver was written a bit hastily.

Visit the manufacturer's website to see if there are any known issues or bug reports, & if appropriate, download the latest version that is definitely compatible with your setup.
